Haitian-American Activist/Artist Smith Georges met Pelé, one of the most recognizable and popular men in the world, at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York on Saturday, July 9, 2005. Pelé was a guest during a film documentary presentation on his life and times. Pelé autographed the artist's original artwork as well as a print. The artist also gave a print to Pelé as seen on the video.
Manno Sanon, the Haitian soccer legend/Superstar scored the first goal of the match against Italy in the FIFA Soccer World Cup 1974. Haiti shocked the world. The Italian goal keeper Dino Zoff was believed to be unbeatable until Manno Sanon of Haiti penetrated Zoff's nets which had remained virgin from 1972 to June 15, 1974. The whole soccer world was shocked and at a standstill. The Haitian team surpassed all expectations. The match was played at the OlympiaStadion in Munich, West Germany in June 15, 1974. There were 51,100 spectators. The match ended 3-1, Italy won.
